TGA invites the NHCA to be included on the complementary medicines stakeholder consultation list.
We were delighted to receive the recognition of being invited to submit our name to be included on this committee, and feel it is an important step in the process of growing the Alliance.
Rod Brennan 1949 – 2006
Rod Brennan, one of Australia strongest advocates for complementary medicine over the past twenty five years, died in a tragic car accident in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney in mid June. His funeral, attended by many hundreds of his friends and colleagues, was a moving tribute to a man whose warmth and good humour was legendary in the natural healthcare profession and industry.
A geologist by training, Rod became a proponent of natural healthcare in his work with Blackmores, initially in his home state of Victoria, and later in the Balgowlah head office in Sydney. He left Blackmores to buy NatureCare college in the mid 1990s, and under his direction the College grew in size and quality, ultimately achieving Rod's dream of degree courses in a number of modalities.
Rod was also active in the politics of natural healthcare, both as a board member and past president of the Australian Traditional Medicine Society (ATMS), and later, as an active steering committee member of the Natural Health Care Alliance (NHCA). He provided the voice of good humour, reason and experience in times of crisis, and his unwavering belief in the rightness of natural healthcare, imbued his colleagues with the enthusiasm and confidence to continue the fight for a real health-care system in Australia.
We at the NHCA will miss him enormously. Our thoughts and love are with his wife, Anna, and his son Ollie.
If you wish to send a message to Anna, we are happy to forward her contact details to you.

Professor John Dwyer has been busy again, through all media outlets, taking aim at Natural Therapies, and mostly, no one has challenged him. It is amazing how he can make such inaccurate and outrageous comments, and get away with it !
The NHCA has started delving intio the world of pod casting, and we invite you to vist our BLOG and read the latest comments.
